(Shakopee, MN – January 9, 2018) Another great weekend of racing for Team Woodies Racing at the 2018 Pirtek Snocross National in Shakopee, Minnesota.
Both days of racing saw temps below zero which caused major snow dust on the track, so visibility was a struggle for most and a hole shot was a must have on the starts. The crew had the sleds dialed in and ready for the riders to perform in front of the huge Shakopee crowd that showed up and braved the cold. Friday, Taven Woodie finished 3rd in Pro Am Women's class and made her first trip to the pro women's podium as a rookie in the class. Taven has been working really hard to achieve this goal and she did it in only her fifth start in this class.
After a tuff day on Friday, Kaden Woodie came back Saturday ready to redeem himself from the day prior. Kaden ripped a great hole shot and rode it out all the way to the checkered flag for his first sport win on the national tour and 3rd podium of the season. Kaden is currently 3rd in points, only 5 points out of second and 19 out of first going into a track that has been one of his favorites, Deadwood.
Nisse Kjellstrom also put in a solid weekend and continues to adapt to the faster paced competitors here in the States vs Sweden. Nisse was fast all weekend in the heat racers and finished the weekend with a pair of 5th place finishes in the Pro Lite division.
Johan Lidman put in another solid weekend in the Pro class. Lidman has been showing some speed during qualifiers but continues to fight bad luck in the finals. Friday night, Johan finished in 6th and on Saturday there was a lot of confusion on the starting line. Johan and several riders were left sitting on the line after another rider jumped the start and the officials let it go as a clean start. After realizing this Lidman and the other riders took off but there was no way they could make up ground so Johan finished 11th. Johan was qualified 3rd for the final with 2 great heat races that saw him and Tucker Hibbert by far the fastest sleds on the track.
The whole team had a good weekend. They continue to improve and get faster with each event. We couldn't be happier with the new Arctic Cat race sleds as they are very fast and handle like no other out there.
Ryan Duncan and the guys in the trailers work very hard every race weekend and continue to give the riders great machines to race every time they hit the track.
Just one weekend off to get ready for the next stop on the ISOC tour in Deadwood, South Dakota. Deadwood is one of our favorite venues and we look forward to January 19th & 20th. We hope to see you there.
