(April 24, 2016 - CHILLICOTHE, OH) -"The Wild Child" Jac Haudenschild of Millersburg, Ohio claimed the $2500 Ohio Sprint Car Series event at the Atomic Speedway Saturday over a stellar field of cars. Devin Moran, Dresden, Ohio claimed the AMRA Late Model main, Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Kentucky won the AMRA Modified feature, and Andy Trout took home top honors in the AMRA Sport Mod class.
Great racing and big name drivers have set the bar for the Ohio Sprint Car Series (OSCS), which quickly is gaining momentum in the region as a viable, first class venture.
Haudenschild, aboard the Jamie Miller 6m, took the early lead and except for the brief moment that Cale Thomas led, powered to the win. Cole Duncan came on fast late in the race, but ran out of laps, while Danny Smith passed for third with two laps to go.
Haudenschild said, "I haven't felt good in a car for a while and tonight this car was right. I saw the scoreboard and knew the 91, the 22, and the 4 were behind me so I knew I had to get up on the wheel. I'd like to thank Jamie and Larry and the team for getting this car right. They give me a ride whenever I need one and tonight it worked out for us all."
Duncan said, "I screwed up early and that cost me. I just ran out of time. The car was great at the finish so next week maybe we can pick up a spot and be here in victory lane."
"We were coming on at the end but Cole and Jac were just too far gone." said third place Danny Smith. "I love this track and love coming here. All these decals (sponsors) on the car is what makes it happen. Maybe we can come back next week and get the win."
Eddie Carrier, Jr. and Duane Chamberlain got the late race caution they were looking for in the AMRA Late Model main, but youngster Devin Moran led every lap to bring home his first-ever Atomic Speedway win. Moran was running a 99F in memory of fallen race driver Charlie Floyd, whose family joined him in victory lane.
“It's great to finally get my first win here! I love this place! It's one of the first tracks my dad brought me to when I was little, so it is a special win."
Moran added, "This really isn't about me, but I ran the 99F tonight in memory of Charlie Floyd. What happened to Charlie wasn't all for nothing. It made all of us in this business think about safety and I dedicate this win to him."
Jackie Boggs brought home his third win in the AMRA Modiifed division despite a great comeback by Brian Whiteman, who made it close at the finish.
Andy Trout had a race-long battle with Gary Griffith in the AMRA modified main. Griffith went pitside with two laps to go allowing Bob Crace, Jr. and Tony Seibert to make a run for the win. Trout held them off for his first Atomic Win.Steve Nobile was hard charger in a 16th to fourth place run.
