Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series Announces Sunoco $10,000+ Challenge

(SOMERSET, KY - March 12, 2021)—Officials with the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series announces the “Sunoco $10,000+ Challenge” for the upcoming season.

Races paying $10,000 or more to win will also have a 12-race “mini points fund” within its own points fund sponsored by Sunoco Race Fuels. The top-five drivers in the Challenge will receive points money with $5,000 going to the overall champion. To break the money aspect down…if a driver was to win all 12 races, that’s $151,122 plus $5,000 for winning the Challenge title. If a driver just made every race on that tour and received start money only that driver would still receive $7,000 plus $500 for following all 12 races.

Already, each series champion receives $5,000 but series promoter Chris Tilley wanted to add more to the series “regulars” and additionally give them basically an extra point fund for their support. It also helps build more excitement to the events where tracks have stepped up and paid more money to win this season. The Challenge schedule is made up of races from both Northern and Southern region tours. Total purses and points funds for the Valvoline Late Model & Brucebilt Open Wheel Series are in excess of $1-Million for the upcoming season making the Iron-Man Racing Series the largest regional dirt late model & open wheel series in the country.

“Our series sponsors mean a lot to us and have stepped up in a huge way this season. With the help of Valvoline and Sunoco we’re able to do more for the racers. In addition to our already announced points funds we have added a third points fund to the two-race tour,” stated CT Promotions President Chris Tilley. “This basically rewards series regulars with an additional point fund on the bigger paying races. Some drivers have made intentions to run a lot if not most of both tours so we wanted to be able to help our drivers out.”

CRITERIA:

**Drivers must be in 100 percent attendance to be eligible for the top five points fund.

**Drivers competing in the 12-race challenge must pay a separate $150 membership fee to be eligible. This will be due by the April 3 event.
