US GT Championship and Whelen US TT Championship now fueled by Sunoco

To reward and assist racers Sunoco will offer a contingency to the first and second place winners for all classes in both series on Sunday.

Using a simple power-to-weight ratio rules structure of four classes, including a no-holds-barred unlimited class, the US GT Championship is rapidly becoming the largest high performance GT racing series in the USA, and last year fielded as many as 47 cars.

With an almost identical ruleset, the Whelen US TimeTrial Championship attracts America’s fastest time-attack drivers in some of the country’s wildest track cars from the nation’s top tuning houses.

This week, April 13-15, the USGTC and Whelen USTTC will race at Road Atlanta (Braselton, GA). The event features the Road Altanta GT90, NARRA’s first endurance race, and the highly regarded US Performance Driver Education program, open to all road cars, as well as the first rounds of the SRT Viper Cup Series.

The 2012 calendar then sees both series at Road America (May 11-13), New Jersey (June 8-10), VIR (July 6-8), Monticello (Aug 24-26), Texas World (Sept 21-23) and Watkins Glen (Oct 19-21). Two of these events, New Jersey and VIR, feature another Sunoco series, the Formula 1000 Championship.
