Three Florida Tracks Create Universal Rules, New Series

A trio of Florida race tracks have joined forces to create a new racing series in the Sunshine State. Auburndale Speedway, 417 Southern Speedway and Desoto Speedway will play host to the new “Sunshine State Challenge Series” in 2017.

Officials at the three Florida tracks collided to create a universal rulebook that will be used for Super Late Models, Sportsman, Open-Wheel Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Street Stocks, Modified Minis and Bombers.

New Smyrna Speedway, another track located in the state, will join the trio by adapting the Open-Wheel Modified, Pro Truck and Sportsman rules for the 2017 season.

“This is going to be huge for Florida racing,” said Ricky Brooks, Technical Director for the new Sunshine State Challenge Series.

The series will host four races for each division at each of the three tracks for a total of 12 races.  Several of the divisions are paired up to create doubleheaders on the 2017 schedule.

Super Late Models will see Bombers and Legends follow them around the state.  Sportsman and Pro Trucks will join forces, as will the Open-Wheel Modifieds and Street Stocks. The Modified Mini Tour will travel solo to all the tracks in 2017.

Sunoco Fuels and American Racer have teamed up to sponsor the series for the 2017 season.
