The biggest dirt late model event of the year, the “Sunoco North/South 100 –Presented by Lucas Oil”, will take place on Saturday, August 10th.  As the title sponsor of the Sunoco North/South 100 - Presented by Lucas Oil, Sunoco has partnered with one of the biggest crown jewel events in all of dirt late model racing. This annual event pays a whopping $50,000 to the winner and draws close to 100 cars from all across the country to Florence Speedway in Union, KY as part of the LOLMDS schedule each year in the month of August. This mega event is a must see for fans and racers alike as many of the top dirt late model drivers in the history of the sport  have won this coveted trophy over the years. Jimmy Owens, who is the only driver to win this prestigious event three times in its 30 year history, will be looking to extend his impressive streak against the toughest competition ever this year.

As the Official Fuel of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Sunoco has been a proud partner with the premier national touring series for dirt late models for several years. The LOLMDS will sanction 47 events in 21 different states in 2013. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt racecars are on the cutting edge of technology in construction and are powered by 800 horsepower V-8 engines based on the Chevy, Ford and Mopar power plants. Nothing is “stock” about these $70,000 machines that provide dirt slinging, sideways, door-to-door racing action lap after lap. The in your face excitement of a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event is second to none in motorsports!

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has also put together a strong TV package in 2013 to broadcast Ten (10) events on several TV Networks including CBS, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, SPEED, and MAVTV American Real. In-car cameras and special pit side on-air reports bring the racing action to an even more intense and entertaining level for viewers.
