Sunoco fuels Nine Class Winners in the Baja 500

SUNOCO FUELS NINE CLASS WINNERS IN THE BAJA 500

Marcus Hook, PA.   Sunoco Race Fuels had one of its best showings in off-road racing in this year’s Tecate SCORE Baja 500, taking first place in nine classes as well as fueling the over-all 4-wheel winner Robby Gordon.

This year’s race covered more than 500 miles of all the challenges the Baja California desert had to offer the 276 starters.  Only 162 racers (58.71%) managed to finish within the 22-hour time limit for all the car and truck classes and the 16-hour, 45-minute time limit for the Pro and Sportsman Motorcycle ATV classes.  For safety reasons, SCORE used different time limits along with an abbreviated course for Sportsman motorcycle and Sportsman ATV classes.

Sunoco fueled Gordon’s SCORE Trophy Truck to his fifth career class win, his first since 2005.  Justin Matney started fifth in Class 1 but pulled off a win in spite of the extremely dusty conditions this class had to endure.

Ensenada, Mexico native Ernesto Arambula earned the win for Class ½ 1600 by more than 15 minutes over his closest competitor.  Donald Moss posted his ninth win in Class 3.  Moss Brothers Racing has more than 40 first place wins including Donald’s Class 3 win in 2012.

Another 2012 winner, Clyde Stacy won again this year in Class 5-1600.  Stacy is also credited with winning in the Trophy Truck Special class.  Coming off of his win at the San Felipe 250 another Ensenada, Mexico native, Rene Rodriguez won Class 11.

Stock Full class driver Joe Bacal drove the entire 500 miles without relief to bring home the Stock Full win.  Javier Robles, Jr rounded out the Sunoco winning roster in Class 25.
