Steven Jones - NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Driver of the Month

The June 2017 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Driver of the Month is Steven Jones. Jones began his racing career on asphalt at seven years old. After taking home a track championship on asphalt, Jones made the switch and raced go-karts on dirt. After getting a taste of the dirt life, Jones began to turn his focus on dirt racing. Jones seen success in his dirt karting career where he finished fourth out of eighty-six entries in the National Indoor Kart Championship in Tunica, Mis

sissippi. After spending much of his life racing, at the age of fourteen Jones took a break from racing all together and began to focus more on other sports as well as academics. After graduating high school at Oak Hill Academy, Jones attended East Mississippi Community College where he earned an Industrial Maintenance Degree.

“Right after college, at the age of twenty-two, I decided to go watch a race at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi and fell in love all over again,” Jones admitted. Within weeks, Jones had purchased a dirt late model. Since the end of the 2015 season Jones has enjoyed traveling to different tracks and racing in the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series with his friends and family. “I like NeSmith because everybody is pretty much equal. It(NeSmith Racing) is so competitive, and has some of the best drivers in the country competing week in and week out.” Jones said.

Since his return to dirt, Jones continues to hit the track each weekend learning more about how to read different tracks and improving his High Roller Racing Chassis by Justin Mcree with the help of Rodney Jones and Greg Vest at Forklift Repair.

The NeSmith Weekly Racing Series is proud to have hardworking drivers like Steven Jones who bring their family and friends together to make racing each weekend an experience and a memory that will last a lifetime.
