Star-Studded Field Headed to Border War 150 at Anderson Motor Speedway
(Anderson, SC – June 6, 2018) - The Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco and CARS Super Late Model Tour are waging war near the South Carolina border at the Anderson Motor Speedway during Saturday's Border War 150. The list of combatants for this race is deep with talent with $10,000 in spoils going to the victor.
Headlining the list of nearly 30 drivers is Senoia, Georgia's Bubba Pollard. As has been documented, Pollard has a very busy weekend of racing coming up. His weekend will start on Friday in Birch Run, Michigan. Then he's leaving on a jet plane on Saturday morning to head down to Anderson. After that he's headed back to Michigan for a race on Monday at Berlin Raceway.
Pollard, a past Southern Super Series champion, is the defending winner of this event.
Another driver with a busy weekend will be Preston Peltier, who has a penchant for winning big money races. Peltier will be racing Saturday at Anderson and joining Pollard on Monday at Berlin.
Casey Roderick scored almost 20 Late Model victories in a stellar 2017 campaign. His 2018 campaign has gotten off to a solid start with a handful of victories so far. The Lawrenceville, Georgia native rounded out last year's podium at this event with a third-place result.
Fresh off one of the biggest wins of his young career is St. Joseph, Quebec, Canada's Raphael Lessard. The teenager scored the win just a few short weeks ago at Bristol Motor Speedway in the Short Track U.S. Nationals. That victory silenced some doubters and took a lot of pressure off of the Kyle Busch Motorsports driver. Lessard, who was still with David Gilliland Racing last season, did not race this event one year ago.
One of the toughest competitors in the Carolinas will also be in Saturday's race, and that is Kannapolis, North Carolina's Matt Craig. Craig has never scored a win at Anderson Motor Speedway, but the two-time PASS South champion has two top-10 finishes to his credit there.
This year's Pro Late Model champion at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway will also be in action on Saturday. Northfield, Minnesota's Cole Anderson will be behind the wheel of a Super Late Model for Mike Skinner's Gunslinger Racing team.
There's plenty of other big names on the entry list as well, including current SSS points leader Corey Heim, recent PASS South winner Matt Wallace, Steve Wallace, Logan Boyett, Jeff Batten, Chad McCumbee, Jared Fryar and more.
