Sam Watson, Joey Padgett Crowned Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels Champions

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 2, 2014) – Sam Watson (Heavy Division) and Joey Padgett (Light Division) were crowned Spring GoPro Motorplex Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels Champions during the series finale tonight. Congrats to both champions for fighting off five straight weeks of SOLD OUT fields of competitors to earn the Spring GoPro Motorplex Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels championship titles!

Over $1,000 in championship prizes were awarded to the champions and top-three finishers in the Light and Heavy divisions during a special ceremony following the Round Five racing action. Championship prizes included GoPro® HERO3 Black Edition cameras, a track test day in an Arrow Briggs LO206 racing kart and $100 Sunoco Gas Station Gift Cards!

Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels Round Five – Light Division
In Round Five of the Light Division, Devin Jones scored the Race One win. However, Bronson Butcher, the reigning 2013 Rental League Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels Light Division Champion, cleaned up with the Race Two and Three wins.

With a 62.751-second lap, Jared Irvan scored the Sunoco Race Fuels Quick Time Award and earned himself a $25 Sunoco Gas Station gift card!

In the final series championship standings, Padgett took home the Light Division Championship with 2,140 points. Jones finished in second with 1,880 points and Ford Martin secured third place with 1,700 points.  

Heavy Division –
In the Heavy Division, with a close championship on the line with Mark Nahrstedt, Watson really turned up the wick in the last round of the series, securing the Race One and Three victories. Brandon Webb snuck in the Race Two victory.
With a 63.244-second lap, Michael Melvin took home the Sunoco Race Fuels Quick Time Award and earned himself a $25 Sunoco Gas Station gift card!

In the final series Heavy Division championship standings, Watson was able to solidify his Heavy Division Championship with his two wins in Round Five tonight, edging out Nahrstedt by just a mere 10 points. Watson won with 2,175 points, Nahrstedt in second with 2,165 points and Brandon Webb finished third with 1,890 points.
