Rod Conley Transfers into First DLM Dream; R.J. Conley on Podium at Portsmouth
(WHEELERSBURG, OH – June 14, 2018) Rod Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, made the trek to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 7-9 for the annual running of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' After Thursday night's $5,000 to win prelim was pushed back to Friday afternoon, Rod ran seventh in his heat race, second in his B-Main, and twentieth in the 25-lap daytime sprint. Later that evening, Rod grabbed the fifth and final transfer spot through his heat race before finishing nineteenth in the final rundown of the $10,000 to win headliner. At the "Big E" on Saturday, "Hot Rod" finished fifth in his heat race, second in his B-Main, and fifteenth in the $100,000 to win 'Dirt Late Model Dream,' which marked Rod's first career start in the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza.
Delmas and R.J. Conley both headed to the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday, June 9 for a weekly Super Late Model contest, which boasted a $2,000 payday. R.J. laid down the sixth quickest lap during the qualifying session prior to running second in his heat race and third in the A-Main behind only victor Brandon Fouts and runner-up Eddie Carrier, Jr. His Hall of Fame father Delmas was not far behind, as he finished fourth in his heat race before advancing up to sixth in the weekly feature event. All three Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams will converge on Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio this Saturday evening, June 16 for the 7th edition of the 'Boone Coleman Gator 50.' Delmas, Rod, and R.J. Conley are all scheduled to vie for the $5,000 winner's check in the unsanctioned Super Late Model battle. In addition to the first place prize money, a starting provisional is on the line for the annual 'Dirt Track World Championship,' which pays $100,000 to win at PRP in October.
