Rod Conley Gets Top Five in Wild Fred Dillow Memorial for Conley Motorsports, Inc.
(WHEELERSBURG, OH – August 21, 2018) All three Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) drivers converged on the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday evening, August 18 to compete in the 24th Annual 'Fred Dillow Memorial.' Rod Conley had the best night for the Wheelersburg, Ohio-based Super Late Model team, as he posted the ninth quickest lap in qualifying before picking up the victory in his heat race. After driving up to third in the $5,000 to win headliner, Rod suffered an untimely flat tire and had to restart at the tail end of the lead lap cars. "Hot Rod" then surged back towards the front to salvage a strong fourth place effort in the unsanctioned contest behind only victor Jackie Boggs, Colten Burdette, and Kenny Christy!
Delmas and R.J. Conley unfortunately had rough endings to their 2018 'Fred Dillow Memorial' experience, as they both flipped wildly on the rain-soaked racing surface. Delmas, who is a Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, qualified fifteenth quickest in time trials before flipping his #71 machine during heat race action. R.J., on the other hand, won his heat race and was hovering around the top five in the A-Main when his #71c entry endured a wild series of flips. Both drivers emerged unscathed from the serious incidents, but R.J. was relegated to a sixteenth place showing. Complete results from the 'Fred Dillow Memorial' can be viewed online at www.portsraceway.com.
Each of the three CMI drivers will head separate directions over the upcoming August 24-25 weekend. R.J. Conley is set to invade Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio for the inaugural running of the 'Dirt Million.' He will compete in a $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series show on Friday night, while Saturday's 100-lap spectacular is currently slated to pay over $186,000 to win out of a $372,000+ purse. Delmas and Rod Conley will stay closer to home and compete in $2,000 to win weekly programs on Saturday evening, as Delmas will be at Portsmouth Raceway Park once again and Rod will sling dirt at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio.
