Rod Conley Dominates Atomic for Third Win of 2018 Season; Dirt Late Model Dream Next!
(WHEELERSBURG, OH – June 6, 2018) Wheelersburg, Ohio standout Rod Conley laid claim to his third feature victory of the 2018 racing season on Saturday evening, June 2 at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio! Rod won his heat race in preliminary action and later led flag-to-flag in the weekly Super Late Model headliner to bag the $2,000 payday over Randy Armes, Dave Hornikel, Mark Frazier, and Bryan Eaton.
His Hall of Fame father Delmas Conley was also in competition last Saturday, but at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. Delmas placed third in his heat race prior to advancing up to second in the $2,000 to win A-Main to finish a strong runner-up behind only victor Eddie Carrier, Jr. Complete results from both Buckeye State venues can be found online at www.atomicspeedway.net and www.portsraceway.com.
The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams will split up this upcoming weekend and only Rod Conley will trek north to the hallowed grounds of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The 24th running of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream' will take place at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant in Darke County from June 7-9 and Eldora has posted a total purse approaching $400,000. The three-day crown jewel spectacular will start with a pair of Twin 25 programs with each 25-lapper on Thursday night paying $5,000 to the winner and both 25-lap affairs on Friday evening boasting a $10,000 top prize.
The stakes will raise exponentially on Saturday, as the star-studded field will dwindle down to 28 feature starters. Each driver that transfers into the 'Dirt Late Model Dream' will receive at least $2,500, while one lucky driver will bring home the hefty $100,000 windfall. Rod will be looking for his first career start in the 100-lap extravaganza. Tons of race information and coverage from this weekend at the "Big E" can be found by going to www.eldoraspeedway.com.
Delmas and R.J. Conley, on the other hand, are scheduled to wait until Saturday to sling dirt, as they will head to the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. A weekly program will be held on the banks of the Ohio River for the ground-pounding Super Late Models and a $2,000 winner's check will be on the line.
