R.J. Conley Cashes in at Portsmouth Raceway Park for Fourth Victory of 2019
(WHEELERSBURG, OH – August 27, 2019) R.J. Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, racked up his fourth triumph of the 2019 racing season on Saturday evening, August 24 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! R.J. knocked down the second fastest lap overall during qualifying prior to finishing second in the fast dash and grabbing the point on lap two of the 25-lap weekly Super Late Model headliner. He then kept the field behind him for the remainder of the contest to bag the $2,000 payday ahead of Brandon Fouts, Delmas Conley, Kenny Christy, and Robbie Lewis!
Delmas, the patriarch of the racing Conley family and a National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, also qualified well before running fourth in the dash and climbing to a podium effort in the 25-lapper. Rod Conley was also in the pit area at PRP and finished second in his heat race before steering his familiar #71r past a couple of competitors in the A-Main to secure a seventh place showing. The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams will look to defend their home turf this coming Saturday night, August 31, as the ultra-popular Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will roll into Portsmouth Raceway Park to preside over the annual 'Bob Miller Memorial.' With Delmas slated to take the Labor Day holiday weekend off from racing activity, Rod, R.J., and J.T. Conley are all scheduled to be in dirt-slinging action at PRP to vie for the $12,000 winner's check.
A day later on Sunday, September 1, brothers Rod and R.J. will venture north to the hallowed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The American Late Model Series (ALMS) will sanction the 'Baltes Classic' at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant. A strong field of competitors is sure to land at the "Big E" to do battle for the $5,000 top prize in a contest that will serve as the final tune-up for the upcoming 'World 100.'
