R.J. Conley Advances into 49th Annual World 100; Trip to Atomic Up Next
(WHEELERSBURG, OH – September 12, 2019) Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) invaded the hallowed ground of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 5-7 for the 49th edition of the fabled 'World 100.' The three-day crown jewel extravaganza in the Buckeye State started with a pair of $10,000 to win Twin 25 preliminary programs. On Thursday evening in the weekend lid lifter, both CMI drivers in attendance failed to transfer into their 25-lap sprints, as R.J. Conley ran eighth in his heat race and third in his B-Main and Rod Conley finished ninth in his heat race and fifth in his B-Main. A similar story was unfortunately told on Friday night at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant, as both R.J. and Rod placed fourth in their consolation events to miss out on their 25-lappers by a mere two positions.
A whopping $52,000 top prize was then up for grabs at the "Big E" on Saturday, as a record crowd gathered to witness the culmination of the annual 'World 100.' While "Hot Rod" wound up ninth in his heat race and eleventh in his B-Main to unfortunately miss out on transferring into the 100-lap headliner, his brother R.J. was able to advance into the 'World 100' feature field. After finishing fifth in his loaded heat race and fourth in his B-Main, R.J. steered past six competitors during the extra-distance affair to land a twenty-second place effort in the most prestigious event in our industry. The CMI teams are slated to return to dirt-slinging action this Saturday evening, September 14 at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio. The unsanctioned 'Dean Knittel Memorial' will take place this weekend and a $3,554 winner's check will be on the line for the ground-pounding Super Late Models. At this time, all four drivers - Delmas, Rod, R.J., and J.T. Conley - are going to try to venture to the former K-C Raceway on Saturday to compete in the single-day shootout.
