President's Cup Nationals Fueled by Sunoco Completed at Northern Nationals

AUGUST 8, 2015 (Martin, Michigan) - The President's Cup Nationals fueled by Sunoco was concluded today at US 131 Motorsports Park during the Northern Nationals presented by Aeromotive after competition was postponed due to Tropical Storm Bill back in June. Matt Bertsch picked up his first ever IHRA Ironman with a Mountain Motor Pro Stock win.

Bertsch, from Tecumseh, Minnesota, defeated Arnold, Missouri driver, John DeFlorian with a .044 reaction time and a 6.352 run at 219.0 mph. DeFlorian left the line at .103 and made a 6.309 pass at 222.77 mph to finish runner up.

Jason Rupert added another win to his season collection, making it three in a row for the Yorba Linda, California driver. Rupert faced Shawn Bowen, from Grand Blanc, Minnesota, for the make-up event final. Bowen lit the tree at .065, going 5.707 at 213.68 mph while Rupert left at .096 for his 5.659 run.  

Nitro Harley points leader Jay Turner extended his lead with a victory over Rickey House. The Julian, North Carolina rider made a 6.403 at 228.77 mph with a .060 reaction time. House, who made the trip up from Humble, Texas, left at .094 going 7.174 at 202.89 mph.

Billy Harper picked up the Crower Pro Mod Ironman after putting down some quick numbers against Dina Parise. The Paducah, Kentucky driver cut a .058 light and made a 5.963 at 245.50 mph. Parise, from New Freeddom, Pennsylvania, left at .638 and made a 6.244 pass at 197.98 mph.

Jet Dragster final has been postponed and will be run at the MOPAR Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Williams Racing at Grand Bend Motorplex next weekend, August 14 - 16.
