NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series 2017 Week 27 Round Up
(Cartersville, GA – September 26, 2017) The 2017 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season is officially in the record books. The season is one that brings new faces to the spotlight with the 2017 National Championship being claimed by Nebraska driver Josh Leonard. Leonard's arrival to the 2017 scene came with the addition of Junction Motor Speedway and Lexington Raceway in Nebraska to the family of sanctioned speedways. Leonard used his strong finishes at those two tracks, and his visits to Salina Speedway where it all begin with the expansion of the NeSmith Late Models into that region.
Leonard's season was "perfect" with a 700 point total, but after getting a later start to the points chase, former National Champion Noah Daspit made a valiant charge at the end coming up just short of becoming a repeat champion, and edging Jeremy Shaw for the runner up spot.
Drivers that make up the top 10 represent 5 different states, and have used strong performances at their home tracks to compete against drivers across the country that have competed at their local tracks too. The uniform rules package and points structure has proven again that the NeSmith Weekly Racing program provides exciting action at each track they are featured across the country. The NeSmith Racing officials would like to THANK the competitors, tracks, crews, fans, and sponsors for their support during the 2017 season, and look forward to a bigger and better 2018 season!
