(August 28, 2017 - Cartersville, GA) - Nebraska driver Josh Leonard will stay atop the standings following Week 23 action of the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Late Models. Several drivers including Jeremy Shaw, Delbert Smith, and Noah Daspit all have their sights set on taking down the driver who

has had a phenomenal 2017 season to date. With 4 weeks remaining in the Weekly Racing Series points, wins become crucial in bettering points scores and seeing who will take the National Championship and the $10,000 payday that goes along with that!

 

Headlines from Week 23:

  • Austin Franklin put his #22 machine in ECM Speedway Victory Lane during their Saturday night Fan Appreciation event.

  • Brad Berry was able to capture two wins during Saturday night action at Talladega Short Track, Week 1 Make-Up and Week 23, keeping his strong season on track.

  • Joshua Bishop was the winner during Saturday night action at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA.

  • Peter Hazzard picked up the Saturday night win on the gumbo at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.

  • Noah Daspit is a driver that is mounting an assault on the top 5 in points late in the season. He took a total of 3 wins home during Week 23 with Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway, and then both the Week 14 Make-Up and Week 23 event on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway. He will be the driver to watch as he is mounting enough wins to give a run at the top 3.

  • Current point leader Josh Leonard is not going down easy as he picked up two wins over the weekend. A Friday night victory at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS and the Week 22 completion Make-Up on Saturday night at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE.

  • Taylor Jarvis grabbed the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series win on Saturday night at Tom and Kim Lowery's Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

  • Steve Russell tamed "Alabama's Action Track" North Alabama Speedway taking the checkered flag on Saturday night at the Tuscumbia, AL oval.

  • Eddie Morris was the victor during Friday night action at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Pooler, GA.

  • Jake Neighbors put a W in his win column for the 2017 season with the Week 23 feature win at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE.

  • Jamey Boland took his Trak-Star Race Car to the "Home of the Black Ice" Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS where he picked up the NeSmith Late Model Weekly Racing Series victory.
