$10,000 and Other Prizes Up For Grabs

(LAS VEGAS, NV - October 9th, 2018)– Best in the Desert, the largest off-road race series in North America, today confirmed for the first time since 2011 the world famous “Laughlin Leap ” will be held at the upcoming Method Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic by Polaris scheduled for Oct. 11-15, 2018 in Laughlin, NV. Suspension leader Fabtech has signed on to be the presenting sponsor of the “Laughlin Leap by Fabtech”, which will be held on Saturday evening Oct. 13th at 7:00 pm. The “Laughlin Leap by Fabtech” is open to all classes and with $10,000 in prize money and other awards up for grabs, it's sure to elevate the level of excitement and spectacle for everyone in attendance.

For the UTV, car and truck race itself, more than 210 race teams have signed up to compete in this exciting event.

“We are very excited for the 2018 Method Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic presented by Polaris,”  said BITD Operations Manager Donald Jackson. “With exciting new activities like the UTV Night Race by Baja Designs and after being dormant for nearly a decade, the return of the Laughlin Leap by Fabtech for the Car/Truck/UTV community, I think this year’s event will be spectacular in all aspects. Our racer's talents and vehicles will be on display, as well as the entire Best In The Desert organization for everyone to enjoy. Our goal is to provide a great venue for fun family activities throughout the entire week in Laughlin.”

The competition will be bracket style with jump-offs for the first two rounds and the third and final round determining the winner by longest distance. The “Laughlin Leap by Fabtech” is open to all classes but limited to 32 entries on a first come first serve basis. Brackets will be determined at registration through a random draw process. It will be similar to NCAAM basketball tournament brackets with winners advancing to the next round. Once the top eight finalists are determined, the contestants will take one final jump with the longest jump determining the winner. For bracket competition it doesn’t matter what class vehicles compete against each other; contestants will compete against the number drawn at registration.

The “Laughlin Leap by Fabtech” will be held in the infield track section in the main pit area.  Staging is set for 6:30 pm Saturday night with competition starting at 7:00 pm. Safety suits and helmets required. Passengers are optional. Open to all Car, Truck and UTVs.
