KENZIE RUSTON DEFIES ADVERSITY WITH A SOLID FINISH

(Daytona Beach, FL, February 18, 2014) – Kenzie Ruston overcomes a mid-race spin and finishes sixth in the UNOH Battle at the Beach. After racing her way to second place from the tenth starting position, she found herself spinning in third turn. Ruston restarted eighteenth and, over the next sixty laps, raced her way to a sixth place finish. Ruston is now third in NASCAR K&N Pro Series points’ standings.

After the race, Crew Chief Mike Fritts was all smiles and said, “Kenzie drove a great race. We were the fastest car here, and everyone took notice. It doesn’t always go your way in racing. Sometimes you have the fastest car and luck just isn’t on your side.” Fritts went on to complement his driver, citing her knowledge of the car, and excellent ability behind the wheel.

The effort by Ruston was also noticed by Team Principal Ben Kennedy. Kennedy spent part of the race in the Motor Racing Network broadcast booth. Kennedy echoed the sentiment of his teams’ crew chief, saying, “Kenzie was excellent. Having a bad draw and being spun out during a race are just things you can’t control. The team is really behind her and it’s only a matter of time before she wi

Ruston said after the race, “I have the best team in the K&N Pro Series”, said Ruston. “They support me 100%, and both races this week they gave me a car that could win. Even though it’s disappointing tonight, I know tomorrow I will be ready to load up and go to Bristol.”

Kenzie Ruston is only one point out of second place in the season standings. She is one of the five drivers who have placed in the top-10 in both races so far in 2014.

The next race for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East is March 15 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Last season, Ruston passed 18 cars to finish eleventh at the Tennessee half-mile.
