(WAYCROSS, GA - January 22, 2016) - The highly anticipated 2016 season for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will get underway with the Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing, Thursday, February 4th through Saturday, February 6th at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA.
The Super Bowl of Racing officially kicks off on Tuesday, February 2nd with an open practice for support divisions only, no super late models. On Wednesday, February 3rd, GIS Late Models will compete for $2,500-to-win, NeSmith Street Stocks for $2,000-to-win, and the Southeast Dirt Modified Series for $1,500-to-win.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take to the track for the first time on Thursday, February 4th. Thursday night's Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing events will include the 2nd Annual "Edwin Coggins Memorial," a full program of racing, highlighted by a 30-lap, $7,000-to-win main event. Edwin Coggins was a longtime supporter of dirt track racing, Golden Isles Speedway, and drivers from the South Georgia area. Thursday night's action will also include the Southeast Dirt Modified Series and the Lucas Oil Southern State Division II Midget Series.
The festivities will ratchet up on Friday night in the first championship points-earning event of the 2016 season, which includes a 50-lap, $10,000-to-win main event. The Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing will conclude on Saturday night with a 60-lap, $15,000-to-win main event. Both nights will include a full program of racing for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, along with the NeSmith Crate Late Models, Southeast Dirt Modified Series, and the Lucas Oil Southern State Division II Midget Series.
Georgia Boot returns as the title sponsor of the Super Bowl of Racing for the third consecutive year. "We're thrilled to continue our great working relationship with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. We're looking forward to kicking off the 2016 season at Golden Isles Speedway and spending three days with some of the hardest working fans in motorsports," stated Caroline Herd, Georgia Boot Marketing Manager.
Fans that attend the Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing are encouraged to visit the Georgia Boot display tent in the vendor midway area. Fans will have the opportunity to learn about the latest Georgia Boot footwear, receive discount coupons, and register for a chance to win cash and prizes from Georgia Boot and Lucas Oil. On Saturday, February 6th, twenty-four (24) names will be drawn, matching a fan with each driver that starts the main event on Saturday night. The fan matched with the winning driver of the main event will win $515 in cash, among other prizes from Georgia Boot and Lucas Oil. The fans that are matched with the second and third place finishers will also receive prize packages from Georgia Boot and Lucas Oil.

Golden Isles Speedway continues to update the facility, in preparation for the Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing. "We're upgrading the bleachers, we tore out the old ones and are putting in new ones," stated GIS promoter Darryl Courson. "We should have 3,000 seats done, with VIP boxes. We're totally going to do 6,000 seats. We're building a new concession stand for the stands side, upgrading a lot of the fencing area and all the lighting will be different on the front straightaway. There's just numerous things we're doing to upgrade the facility even more."
