Fisher Primed With New Attitude for Season Kick-off at PDRA’s Tulsa Event
(Lina, OH - March 7, 2016) As the finishing touches are applied to the Performance by Fisher Top Dragster, team driver Kathy Fisher looks forward to setting sail on her first full season championship battle in the PDRA, the World’s Premiere Eighth-Mile Drag Racing Organization. The Lima, Ohio based team will get their 2016 season underway during the PDRA Nationals 2016 Season Opener at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park, March 10-12.
The outlook for the new season is a little different than just one year ago for the husband and wife team.
“It’s such a fantastic feeling to be ready to hit the road with a proven car and combination,” Kathy said. “This time last year, we were still two months out from getting the new car and it was well into the middle of June before we really got to get after some sort of real testing.”
For the very first time, the team will only campaign one car and concentrate solely on their Top Dragster efforts in both PDRA and NHRA.
“We’ve done the two car deal for many years, since day one for our team. We had hoped to make the change last season, but held onto the Super Comp car for one final year,” noted Kevin Fisher, Kathy’s husband and crew chief. “To be able to narrow our focus to the Armor Coat/Ohio Crankshaft dragster, not only allows us to do a better job for our partners but bottom line, it enables us to have a little more fun by taking some of the pressure off of keeping multiple cars ready.”
And the Fisher’s just may be on to a recipe that works for them.
“We are going into this season with a different attitude, one that we took with us to our season finale event last October in Virginia. Well why not, it sure seemed to work,” Kathy joked. “Yes, we were focused and serious about the job at hand, but let’s face it, if you are not enjoying what you are doing, you’re not having fun and there’s no room for added stress at the track. Leave it at the gate.”
“We really feel that having a better perspective contributed to our first win with that car and my first in Top Dragster,” she added.
With a new mindset in hand, the team welcomes new partners LAT Racing Oils and ProCharger to the Performance by Fisher Racing stable joining long time contributors, Armor Coat Ceramic Header Coating, Ohio Crankshaft, K&N Filters and Borla Exhaust.
The 2015 American Top Dragster will again be equipped with an Ohio Crankshaft 547ci BBC and for the fifth season in a row, an F-2 ProCharger.
“This combination works very well for us,” Kevin explained. “We have lots of data and couldn’t see any good reason to make any sort of drastic changes for 2016. This should only help us for competing at so many new-to-us venues this year. In a class like Top Dragster that comes down to being quick and consistent, you don’t go messing with a proven winning combination.”
The Fisher’s have one of their busiest schedules planned in several seasons and with the additional continued support from Aesthetic Finishers, Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels, Sunoco Race Fuels, Abruzzi Racing Transmissions & Converters, Moser Engineering, Simpson Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, Quick Fuel Technologies, Advertising Edge, House of Payne Performance and longtime friend Tom “The Tool Man” Hirt – Snap-On Tools dealer, the arsenal is packed with the performance products needed to tackle it.
