Dunn Benson Motorsports and EPJ Suffers Heart Break at the Dirt Track World Championship, Finishes 7th in Final Series Point Standings to Close Out 2017

(DUNN, NC - October 24, 2017) – Dunn Benson Motorsports and Earl Pearson Jr. were poised to finish the 2017 season with a strong showing at the Dirt Track World Championship in Portsmouth, OH this past weekend. Earl started 3rd in the 100-Lap $100,000 to Win DTWC feature event that drew 72 drivers from all over the country trying to win the coveted trophy and big check. EPJ would race inside the top 5 throughout the first 46 laps of the 100-lap feature event. EPJ would find a fast line around the Portsmouth Raceway using the cushion and high groove while running in 4th place and powered by Jonathan Davenport and Scott Bloomquist on the outside on the same lap to move into 2nd place on lap 45. While running 2nd on lap 46 Earl’s car would suffer a mechanical failure and would fall out of the feature event with a 23rd place finish. The entire Dunn Benson Motorsports Team and Earl were dejected after the race knowing they had a good shot at winning this crown jewel event.

“We had a really good car the entire weekend and our car was really good in the feature. I hate it that we couldn’t finish and battle those guys for the win. We put ourselves in contention and had a good shot at winning, but you always got to have a little luck in these big races and unfortunately we didn’t get the luck Saturday night”, stated Earl Pearson Jr. The Dunn Benson Motorsports Team ran a special Robert Yates #28 paint scheme as a tribute any memory of Robert after he passed away on Oct 2nd after losing his battle with cancer.

This event was the final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event of the year and Dunn Benson Motorsports final race of 2017. EPJ and the Dunn Benson Motorsports Team finished 7th place in the final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Point Standings. The Dunn Benson Motorsports Team and driver Earl Pearson Jr. earned Two (2) Wins on the tour in 2017 with EPJ registering a total of Ten (10) Top 5 finishes, Twenty-Nine (29) Top 10 finishes and One (1) Fast Time Award in 48 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Feature events. EPJ and the Dunn Benson Motorsports Team also earned a Win at Dublin Motor Speedway in NC on the Ultimate Super Late Model Series in April.

Carlton and Kemp Lamm, owners of the Dunn Benson Motorsports Team, have chosen to start preparing for the 2018 season and will not compete at any other events in 2017.
