DOUG COBY GRABS FOURTH-PLACE FINISH AT STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY

(STAFFORD, CT - August 7, 2021) -- Doug Coby wheeled the No. 10 Mayhew Tools machine to a solid fourth-place finish in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour GAF Roofing 150 on Friday, August 6 at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Coby, who qualified in fifth, worked his way into the second spot in the first half of the race, where he would run until the caution went in the air close to lap 100.

Coby drove the car down pit road, where the Mayhew Tools team went to work, giving Doug a strong stop, as the six-time champion would restart and run at the lead of the race for some of the laps late. However -- Coby couldn’t quite hold off his challengers -- sliding back in the final laps and settling for a fourth-place effort, behind Ryan Preece, Justin Bonsignore and Jon McKennedy.

The top-five finish was the 27th career top-five at his home track and 38th top-10 for the Milford, Connecticut, native.

“We had a better car than anyone I think on the long run tonight,” Coby said. “But we were just a little bit off when we got the tires, and tires and adjustments seem to bring our competition to life. We were good -- just not exceptionally good. We talked about it after the race and we think there are a few things we could have done. Overall a good night. Thanks to Mayhew Tools and our entire team for their hard work.”

Doug Coby will return to the track on Saturday, August 21 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Maine for the next NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race. For more information on Doug Coby Racing, including the latest stories, updates and more, visit dougcobyracing.com.
