Best in the Desert VT Construction Silver State "300" presented by Method Race Wheels Set for First Weekend in May

(Las Vegas, NV  -  April 19, 2018)      Best in the Desert's 2018 season continues on a torrid pace, with back to back record entries, and as of today more than 200 teams have signed up for the  VT Construction Silver State “300”  presented by Method Race Wheels. We are so excited to again make this racer favorite a part of our events.  It’s a tough race surrounded by treacherous terrain for Motorcycles, Quads, UTVs, Cars, and Trucks. It's a 300-mile point to point race, starting just north of Alamo, Nevada. With a high in the mid-80's, perfect race-weather is predicted for the VT Construction Silver State “300”  presented by Method Race Wheels the first weekend in May.

What can be more exciting than to race on some of the most scenic desert land in our country? The VT Construction Silver State “300”  presented by Method Race Wheels offers not only scenic value, but a challenging race course. The course will have a mixture of high-desert mountains, sand-washes, and some of the most panoramic views that will make racers want to stop their race vehicle and just take it all in. Racers travel through the Pahroc Summit area where they will see unbelievable rock formations and the Delamar Valley, where the ghost town of Delamar is located and gold was discovered in 1890. Then the race passes through the Cathedral Gorge, an area of eroded spires, towers and columns of tan bentonite clay and on to Pioche, a city, that in 1870, was considered to be one of the wildest mining camps in the West.  Pit # 3 is in Caliente, a town dating back to the late 1800’s!

Not only does the VT Construction Silver State “300”  presented by Method Race Wheels offer a race rich in desert beauty, but this part of eastern Nevada is rich in American History. The race will start 15 miles north of Alamo, an area established in 1901. It was an important area for cattle ranching and still is today. Spectators and racers alike will see that cattle ranching is alive and well in the deep green pastures of Pahranagat Valley. Then the course travels north through Caliente, a town where in 1901, the Union Pacific Railroad and the Oregon Short Line claimed the same territory and the same set of tracks. The course heads to the Caselton area where silver was discovered in 1868 at the Prince Mine. The entire area is rich in history, and this race provides an opportunity to go back in time and experience what it must have been like to live as a cattle rancher, a miner, or a railroad man. This is not only a great race, but a great event to bring your entire family. Remember, Best in The Desert is about creating memories, and the VT Construction Silver State “300”  presented by Method Race Wheels will definitely live up to your expectations as it's an epic event, not just another race!

Race headquarters will be in the ever popular Las Vegas Texas Station Gambling Hall, close to US-95 and I-15. Registration, Tech Inspection, and Contingency will be held on Friday, May 4, and the race will take place on Saturday, May 5th. The start line is 15 miles north of Alamo on US-93, and the finish line will be in Delamar Valley.  The racecourse is a loop of approximately 300 miles.
