R.J. Conley Claims Top Ten in Bob Miller Memorial at PRP; World 100 Ahead

(WHEELERSBURG, OH – September 5, 2019) The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams found themselves in Labor Day weekend action on August 31-September 1 at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio and Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series invaded PRP on Saturday evening for the annual ‘Bob Miller Memorial,’ which boasted a $12,000 top prize. R.J. Conley grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his stacked heat race and later picked off four competitors during the course of the 50-lap feature event to nab a solid ninth place performance. Rod Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, finished fifth in his heat race, sixth in the B-Main, and nineteenth in the ‘Bob Miller Memorial.’

At Eldora on Sunday night in the annual running of the ‘Baltes Classic,’ the two Conley brothers did battle to vie for the $5,000 winner’s check in the American Late Model Series (ALMS) special. R.J. wound up eighth in his heat race and fourth in his B-Main, while Rod placed seventh in his heat race and fourth in his B-Main. Unfortunately, both CMI drivers missed a coveted transfer spot into the 30-lap feature by one mere position through their consolation race and were forced to watch the headliner that was eventually won by Ricky Weiss. Complete results from the holiday weekend can be located online at www.lucasdirt.com and www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Next up for both Rod and R.J. will be the most prestigious race in the Dirt Late Model industry – the 49th Annual ‘World 100’ back at Eldora (OH) Speedway! The three-day spectacular at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant will kick off later tonight, September 5 with a pair of win $10,000 to win feature events. A similar show will take place on Friday, September 6 at the “Big E” with total points from both preliminary programs setting the stage for Saturday’s traditional ‘World 100’ format.

A full night of racing activity on Saturday, September 7 will greet what is sure to be a huge throng of racing fans at the “House that Earl Built.” Six heat races, two consolation events, and the 100-lap headliner are all on tap to close out the crown jewel extravaganza. The total purse of this year’s edition of the ‘World 100’ is a massive $433,800 with $52,000 earmarked to the winner while each of the 30 feature starters is slated to receive at least $2,500. The Conley brothers have made a collective ten starts in the ‘World 100’ headliner throughout their racing careers with a best finish of seventh (R.J.) back in 2003.
